CAMP AGUINALDO, QUEZON CITY – The UP Diliman Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (UPDROTC) Corps of Cadets and Corps of Sponsors, in partnership with the Cadet Alumni Organization (UPCAO) and UP Vanguard Incorporated – Makati Chapter (UPVI-Makati), has successfully turned over the Care Package Donations for the soldiers and school children in the West Philippine Sea, Basilan, Samar, and Leyte, yesterday, 05 June.
The donations included canned goods, biscuits, soap, tools, and other basic necessities that will be distributed among the soldiers and school children of said localities. These were gathered through the Care Package Initiative (CPI).
CPI donations were transported to Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo (CGEA) yesterday morning. In a commendable display of dedication, MGen Gabriel C Viray III PA, the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations (CMO), personally received the donations at his office on the same day.
On behalf of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), MGen Viray expressed the gratitude of the armed forces for the endeavor done by the UP Diliman ROTC Unit and the UPCAO. He commended the project for its value and importance in safeguarding peace in the country.

The Corps Commander of UPD ROTC Unit, CCol Fergie John O Frange 1Cl, added that maintaining the countryโs sovereignty comes with a cost, and the CPI was an opportunity to contribute to our soldiers and communities.

CCol Frange also thanked every donor and stakeholder for their solidarity. He added as well that this yearโs donation drive exceeded the scale of past CPIs.
The Care Package Initiative was first a product of cooperation between UPD ROTC, UPCAO, and the AFP in 2015. Ever since 2022, the ROTC unit, UPCAO, and the AFP come hand-in-hand for this endeavor.
