Welcoming New Cadets of the ROTC Mil Sci 1 Course A.Y. 2023-2024

As another semester unfolds, we celebrate yet another milestone for the UP Diliman ROTC (UPD ROTC) Unit.

Take a peek at the remarkable journey of the new set of cadets when they underwent the Military Science 1 course.

On 16 September 2023, the UP Diliman ROTC proudly welcomed new cadets at UPD DMST for a day of orientation and training, aiming to instill the core values of Duty, Honor, and Country and develop them into resilient reservists. The day started with the cadets forming up at the quadrangle at 0800H, followed by a program at 1000H.

1LT ALDWIN A GALAPON (AGS) PA (RES), the UPD DMST Administrative Officer IV, extended a warm welcome to the cadets on their first training day. The Commandant and Department Head, COL RANDY O REMONTE PA (RES) formally inaugurated the ROTC Mil Sci 1 course. He also introduced MGEN JOSE P MAGNO JR PA (RET), UP Vanguard class of 1952, the esteemed Guest of Honor and Speaker who graced the event with his presence. MGEN MAGNO’s inspirational words left a profound impact on the cadets. 

He even personally selected one of the basic cadets to demonstrate some military commands. Also in attendance were LTC DEMIER A BACASMAS PA (AGS), Director, 1302nd Community Defense Center (CDC), and Asst. Prof. Dennis F Quilala, Director, UP Diliman National Service Training Program (NSTP).

During the opening program, cadets were also introduced to the members of the DMST administrative and training staff, the cadet officers, and the sponsors. Following the program, the cadets were directed to their respective classrooms, where they received an orientation for the Military Science 1 course and DMST Standard Operating Procedures from their cadet officers.
