UP CAO and UPD ROTC gives care packages for troops, kids in West Philippine Sea

The UP Diliman ROTC Corps of Cadets, Corps of Sponsors, and the Cadet Alumni Organization (CAO) worked together to provide care packages to our troops and school children at the Kalayaan Island Group. UP Diliman ROTC cadet officers, along with the volunteer cadets from the basic ROTC course, helped in the repacking of donations last 28 May 2022 which included canned goods, books, toiletries, and more.

On 30 May 2022, the turnover program started with an invocation delivered by Miss Rixie Anne E Larga, the Corps Personnel Sponsor from the UP Corps of Sponsors, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Afterwards, the UP CAO expressed their desire to provide and support the troops and schoolchildren with relief and morale-boosting packages, which the UPD ROTC Corps Commander, CLtC Vienna Kaye P Lagdaan 1Cl, affirmed during her closing remarks.

At the end of the program, the donations were then handed over by CLtC Lagdaan along with Miss Larga, and Miss Maria Christina Cecelia C Hernandez of the UP Cadet Alumni Organization to the Armed Forces of the Philippines represented by BGEN GABRIEL C VIRAY III PA, the Deputy Chief of Staff for CMO, J7. The organizers were commended for their initiative in his post-turnover speech. “Initiatives like these are very much welcomed by the AFP. This is their own volition. This is not only for the troops sa Pag-asa, but also the community, especially the children,” he said.

The success of this event would not be possible without the support of the AFP, UP CoC, UP CoS, and the UP CAO. Thank you for your kind hearts!
