UP Diliman ROTC Unit Welcomes Malaysian Prime Minister

The Rayadillo Honor Guard cadets of the University of the Philippines Diliman ROTC Unit provided a Cordon Detail along with the Corps of Sponsors, who provided ushering detail and accommodating guests of the event, as part of the University of the Philippines’ official welcome to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, His Excellency, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim when he was conferred the degree Doctor of Laws honoris causa.

Joined by his wife and members of his cabinet, the Prime Minister received snappy salutes as he entered the University Theater for his conferment ceremony. The cordon detail also welcomed to the venue the University President, Atty. Angelo A Jimenez, and the members of the Diplomatic Corps of the Philippines. The sponsors then greeted the Prime Minister accompanied by the UP President as he entered the theater and guided them to their respective positions before their formal entrance.

After receiving the degree, His Excellency, the Prime Minister, gave a lecture on Asian Renaissance to the UP Academic Community.

A cordon detail is one of the military honors given to a dignitary in place of or in addition to full military honors. Cordon details can either be foyer (near the entrance), ramp (in cases of stairs and inclines), plane (as the dignitary boards the aircraft), or side boys (only two personnel are involved in giving honors).
