The University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Unit successfully revived the annual Presentation of Sponsors parade and review at the Sunken Garden, UP Diliman, Quezon City on 16 December 2023 after years of the ceremony being held virtually due to the restrictions set during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this meaningful ceremony, the newly appointed Sponsors of Batch Alunsina took their oaths, becoming the torchbearers of the UP Corps of Sponsors (Diliman). This event is a cherished tradition, marking the transition from one generation of sponsors to the next.
A significant moment during the parade and review was the turnover of the Sponsors’ Flag, symbolizing the passing of authority and responsibility from the outgoing Corps Sponsor, Ms. Rixie Anne E Larga from the College of Mass Communication, to the incoming Corps Sponsor, Ms. Lanel Rose C Cordova from the College of Engineering. The UPD ROTC had the honor of having Atty. Edgardo Carlo L Vistan II, 12th Chancellor of UP Diliman as the Guest of Honor and Speaker for this ceremony. He was greeted by the Commandant and Department Head COL RANDY O REMONTE PA (RES). Chancellor Vistan delivered an inspiring message to the new group of sponsors and inducted them, before they were formally presented to their respective units.
“This Presentation of Sponsors is not only a privilege but also a reminder of your duty and to take up your responsibility as the socio-civic arm of the DMST. Being part of the UP Corps of Sponsors opens you to extraordinary experiences and opportunities,” said Atty. Vistan II.

Members of Sponsors Batch Alunsina are Lanel Rose C Cordova, Laia R Goyena, Irish Joy P Cambri, Irene Tabitha D Cantre, Krissie Marie Ebdane, Racquel G Escolar, Realeyne S Gapultos, Leanne M Genecela, Eliza Grace B Manalo, Adrienne Vi Marie R Siquete and Abigail D Veric.
To formally conclude the parade, a pass-in review was conducted by the Corps of Cadets led by the Corps Commander, CMaj Cacey D Calixto 1Cl, showcasing the discipline and dedication of the cadets of UPD ROTC.
UPD ROTC welcomes the Sponsors of 2024 and extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Sponsors of 2023 for their dedicated service and encourages them to continue the legacy of excellence!
