Marching Forward: In Commemoration of the 160th Bonifacio Day

UPD ROTC’s commitment to community engagement embodies their deep patriotism, honoring the heroes who laid the foundation of the nation. The UPD ROTC Unit participated in a meaningful tribute at the Monumento sa mga Bayani ng 1896 on 27 November 2023, in cooperation with the Katipunan ng Mga Anak ng Bayang Pilipinas and the Rainbow Rangers Alumni Association Incorporated commemorating this year’s 160th Bonifacio Day.

Rayadillo Honor Guards in Monumento sa mga Bayani for Bonifacio Wreath-Laying Activity

From the rhythmic march of the UP Rayadillo Honor Guards to the soulful melodies of the UP ROTC BAND, every step and note echoed with the spirit of Duty, Honor, and Country. The firing, performed by the Rayadillo Honor Guards in honor of Bonifacio and the values he embodied, was one of the highlights of the event, adding a powerful and solemn touch to the ceremony. The wreath-laying ceremony was rendered in honor of Gat Andres Bonifacio’s birth anniversary. The UP Corps of Sponsors also provided ushering detail for the event.

The presence of the Guest of Honor, Undersecretary Jesus ‘Gary’ Domingo, PhD of the Civilian Security and Consular Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs, escorted by the UPD ROTC Unit Commandant, COL RANDY O REMONTE PA (RES), added grace to this occasion. The event was also attended by COL FERDINAND REY G GA PA MNSA (ART), Group Commander, National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG), Reserve Command (RESCOM) Philippine Army (PA), and by LTC DEMIER A BACASMAS PA (AGS), Director, 1302nd Community Defense Center, NCRRCDG, RESCOM PA.
