UPD ROTC Unit Joins Pistol Familiarization Firing Hosted by the UPVI Gun Club

Cadet officers and sponsors of the UP Diliman ROTC Unit were given a chance to practice their pistol marksmanship skills at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo (CGEA) Firing Range during the conduct of the Surgeons’ Cup, a fun shoot hosted by the UP Vanguard Gun Club.

Cadet officers and sponsors were oriented by Vgd. Astrolito del Castillo ’90, one of the members of the UP Vanguard Gun Club, on safety procedures and on preliminary M1911 Cal .45 pistol marksmanship instruction.

Participants were given an orientation by the members of the UPVI Gun Club on the standard operating procedures for firing ranges including the four primary rules of firearm safety. After which, dry firing exercises using the M1911 Cal .45 pistols were conducted before the live firing. Each cadet officers and sponsors fired a total of 24 rounds of ammunition.

Also present in the Surgeons’ Cup are GEN ANDRES C CENTINO PA, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and LT GEN ROMEO S BRAWNER JR PA, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army. The cadet officers and sponsors were given a chance to meet them, and the two generals gave motivational and inspirational messages to the personnel of the UP Diliman ROTC Unit.

The Commanding General of the Philippine Army, LT GEN ROMEO S BRAWNER JR PA, talked to the cadet officers and sponsors of UP Diliman ROTC Unit and encouraged them to keep up the good work of promoting the ROTC program.

The UP Diliman ROTC Unit expresses it grateful appreciation to the Vanguards of the UPVI Gun Club for giving its cadet officers and sponsors an opportunity to enhance and practice their pistol marksmanship skills.
