UP Diliman ROTC Unit holds Turnover, Ring Hop Ceremony

Last 10 July, 2021, the UP Diliman ROTC Unit bid adieu to its outgoing first class and sworn into office a new Corps Commander of the UP Diliman ROTC Unit, CCpt Vienna Kaye P Lagdaan 2Cl.

The outgoing Corps Commander CLtC John Timothy G Kho 1Cl relinquished his command to CCpt Lagdaan in the official Turnover of Command which took place at the Department of Military Science and Tactics (DMST) Complex. 

Furthermore, held on the same evening was the Ringhop Ceremony, an event that celebrated  the three years of service of the outgoing Hiraya Class of 2021. CLtC John Timothy G Kho 1Cl, CMaj Ces Archae D Buenavista 1Cl, and CMaj Mary Angeline G Polvito 1Cl passed through the Bull Ring replica, ending their journey in the Corps.

The Corps salutes them for their unfaltering dedication, persistent hard work, and ingenious leadership. Their vision and monumental decisions brought online ROTC to the standard it is today. Now, they are Vanguards of the UP Vanguard, Incorporated – Capitol Chapter.

This event was graced by the Guest of Honor and Speaker and former Commandant, Colonel Arvin R Lagamon INF (MNSA) PA; the Commandant of UP Diliman ROTC Unit, Colonel Jaime R Datuin INF (GSC) PA; and the Assistant Commandant, Major Allan M Peñaflor FA PA.

Colonel Lagamon gave personal messages for each of the outgoing first class and words of wisdom for the incoming Corps Commander. Speaking of service, he said, “For me that is the only way to live life to the fullest. You have to give your gift away. You have to use your gifts, your skills, your talents, [and] your time. And if you can do that, you will give a lot to this country.”
